Mastering Cultural Intelligence: Navigating and Thriving in Diverse Global Environments

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Course Overview:

This intensive one-day program is designed to equip professionals with the practical tools and frameworks necessary to understand, navigate, and leverage cultural differences in today's global workplace. Drawing heavily on concepts from David Livermore's Leading with Cultural Intelligence and Erin Meyer's The Culture Map, the course focuses on developing the four core capabilities of Cultural Intelligence (CQ): Drive, Knowledge, Strategy, and Action. Participants will learn to accurately diagnose cultural situations, adapt their leadership and communication styles, and improve collaboration across diverse teams to drive better business outcomes in global or multicultural settings.

Course Objectives:
  1. Define the four dimensions of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and assess one's personal CQ profile using an established framework.

  2. Apply The Culture Map dimensions (e.g., communicating, evaluating, deciding, trusting) to decode and anticipate behavioral differences in international business contexts.

  3. Develop effective CQ Strategy skills to plan for and interpret culturally unfamiliar experiences and interactions.

  4. Identify and mitigate common cultural biases and stereotypes that hinder effective cross-cultural communication and decision-making.

  5. Formulate adaptable communication and negotiation strategies based on the cultural context of the stakeholders involved.

  6. Enhance leadership effectiveness by applying CQ to motivate, manage, and lead diverse teams to achieve shared organizational goals.

  7. Design an immediate action plan for applying CQ skills to a current professional challenge or global assignment.
